The Anticariogenic Effect of Miswak (Silvadora Persica) and Grape Seed Extract

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of Miswak and Grape seed extract (GSE) on enamel dentine subjected to artificial acid challenge in-vitro. Materials Methods: A total thirty sound freshly extracted human permanent periodontally affected upper molars were used. 30 specimens cut from buccal surface teeth dentin cervical root area. All polished obtain a flat surface. Ethanolic miswak was prepared by percolation method. Solutions 10% ethanolic extract, 6.5% 0.05% sodium fluoride prepared. Specimens divided into two groups (n=30); dentin. Each group further three sub-groups (n=10) according material Group1; treated with solution. Group2; GSE Group3; solution (positive control). individually alternative treatment/pH cycling regimen for 7 days. Radiodensity (change in mineral content) each specimen assessed before after pH using digital radiography. Data statistically analyzed; significance level set at p ≤0.05. Results: showed high percent gain radiodensity compared fluoride. Conclusion: are beneficial both through increasing their resistance attacks.
